Oroville Invitational Results!

We loaded up the bus at 8 am on Saturday to venture to Oroville for our first meet of the year.  The weather was partly sunny but very windy.  Luckily, no rain.

We had 6 boys and 6 girls make the trip.  Only one senior and the rest sophomores and freshman.  Unfortunately, Itzel became ill on the drive up and was not able to compete.  She spent the day holed up in the team tent trying to stay comfortable.  We all hope she gets better soon.

I would call the meet a great success.  We didn't score a lot of team points but many of the kids got personal bests, which is outstanding for the first meet of the season.  Especially considering the windy conditions.  There were 16 schools there, most of them teams much bigger than ours so the competition was tough.

Here is a run down of our performances by individuals:

1.  Ofelia Rodriguez-  ran prs in the 100 and 200.  Also competed on the 2 relay teams.
2.  Cheyanne McFadden- ran pr in the 400 and ran on the 2 relays.  Had the team's best long jump as well.
3.  Adriana Guzman- our highest finisher with a 5th place finish in the 800m.  Also had a pr by over 15 seconds in this race.  Also ran on both relays.
4.  Bronte Toolson- pr in the 200 and was on both relays.
5.  Thalia Lepley-  did the long jump and due to coaches' oversight was unable to compete in the discus.

Boys:
1.  Marcus Vanderholm- 6th place finish in the 1600.  6th place finish on 4x400 relay team.
2.  Ty Harding- 6th place finish in the 200 and 4x400 relay.
3.  Jesses Russell- pr in the 400 and 1600 and on 4x400 relay.
4.  Paul Toolson- pr in the 400 and 1600.
5.  Casey Sorenson- pr in the 200 and on 4x400 relay.
6.  Juan Chavolla- pr in the 100, 200, and 400.

Great job by everybody!

We stopped in Omak for after meet meal and then did not get back to Manson until 8:15 pm.  A full and long day indeed.

We look forward to our next meet in Wenatchee on Tuesday.
