We had another great weather day for the annual trip to Quincy. It was maybe even a bit too warm for some of the kids (and coaches!). We ran/threw very well overall on the the day.
Best on all, the boys team placed 7th out of 25 teams, which is easily our best team showing in several years. Several kids earned ribbons for placing in the top 8.
A bulk of our points were earned by Marcus Vanderholm, who won the 1600m and placed 2nd in the 3200m.
Casey Sorensen placed 4th in the shot with a pr of 43'4" and then followed that up with a 6th place finish in the discus.
Alex Vanderholm had his best showing ever, placing 4th in the discus, breaking the 130' barrier for the first time. This mark moves him into the top 10 in the state.
Ty Harding had a good day in the long jump, smashing through the 18' barrier for the first time. The effort placed him 10th overall, only missing out of a ribbon by 2 inches.
Jesse Russell got a nice pr in the 400m
Kelly McClellen got a big pr in the shot.
Paul Toolson got a nice pr in the 200m.
Bridger Machus continues to up his long jump efforts and also got a pr in the 200m.
Sam Thomas broke his 1600m pr by over 6 seconds!
Joe Toolson got a new pr in the 400m.
The girls were not quite as successful as a team, but still had some good efforts.
Itzel Castro had some good efforts in the 100m and 200m.
Eli Leyva was the female athlete of the meet, notching prs in both the 400m and 800m. Her 400 time was good enough for 8th place and a ribbon.
Raechel Vanderholm got a new pr in the shot put.
Also competing were Natalie, Stephanie, and Aylee
