Manson participated in the Kodiak Invitational in Leavenworth on Friday, April 29. The weather was windy, but still pleasant. There were about 20 other schools there.
Itzel Castro and Ofelia Rodriguez continue to nurse muscle pulls and were held out of the meet. We hope to have them back in time for our league meet on May 14th. The biggest issue the girls team has without them participating is our inability to field relay teams.
We did have some good performances that should be recognized:
Boys-
Juan Chavolla ran a big pr in the 3200. He has done a much better job learning to pace himself more evenly throughout the race.
Marcus Vanderholm ran the tough 1600,3200 double. He placed 2nd in one and 3rd in the other and ran great competitive races.
Paul Toolson ran a huge 10 second pr in the 800. Also got a pr in the javelin.
Jesse Russell ran the 300mh and took a few tenths off his best effort.
Ty Harding ran the 100 and 400 plus the relay and long jump. He continues to get stronger after recovering from his knee injury earlier in the month. (Stupid trampoline.)
Bridger Machus got a pr in the 200; Alex Espinoza also got a pr in the 200.
We struggled a bit in the field events this meet. Neither Alex V. or Casey were quite on top of their games. Better to be off now than in a couple of weeks though. Get rid of all those bad throws!!
On the girls side-
Stephanie Quiroz continues her trend of getting a pr every time she runs the 100, finally breaking the 15 second barrier.
Bianca Vergara ran the 300mh for the first time and won her heat!!
Eli Leyva broke through the 75 second mark in the 400 for the first time.
Adriana Guzman also ran a great 400, beating her best time by a second.
Cheyanne McFadden continues to nurse a sore ankle, but still beat her best time in the 1600 by 5 seconds!
Smashing her best time in the 1600 by almost 30 seconds was Maria Chavolla. She is just starting to find her potential.
Thalia Lepley ran a good 800.
Mackenie Gallaher got her best shot put effort of the year.
Natalie Martinez also did a good job in the field events.
Everyone has continued to progress and improve as the year has gone on. I couldn't be more proud of everyone. Now, if we could just get healthy!!
