Fortunately, we had some improved weather on Saturday, versus the meet on Thursday. At least in only rained a little bit. The Ray Cross Invite has 37 teams and over 700 athletes participating so it is very competitive. The better conditions and tough level of competition helped provide some solid results from the Manson athletes.
Girls:
1. Ofelia Rodriguez broke her own school record in the 200m. She ran a 29.43 and did it with a sore hamstring to boot. Also had a good effort in the 100m.
2. Adriana Guzman had a big pr in the long jump by over 6 inches, finally cracking the 12 foot barrier.
3. Also setting prs were Kyla Chavolla in the javelin, Mackenzie Gallaher in the javelin and discus, and Natalie Martinez in the javelin and discus.
4. Maria Chavolla did a good job in the 800m, beating her previous best by 25 seconds!
Boys:
1. Ty Harding had another great meet, notching a pr in the 200 in 25.23. That is the leading time in the district so far this year.
2. Casey Sorensen was our highest placer at the meet in the discus. He finished in 11th.
3. Paul Toolson had big prs in the 400 by 3 seconds and the 200 by over 2 seconds.
4. Alex Vanderholm had a good day in the discus and shot put, getting personal best in both.
5. Bridger Machus also had a good day by beating his previous best long jump by over 2 feet!
Good job by all.
Our next meet is Thursday at Cashmere.
Unfortunately, our team photographer was unable to attend this meet, so photos are unavailable. She should be there on Thursday for more exciting action pictures!
